Kayla McGrath
b. Kayla Scholl, 1986, New York

Using color to define space, Kayla McGrath captures the essence of the Alaskan landscape, creating an atmosphere of vivid beauty. Whether working with oil paints or hand crafting birch bark jewelry, Kayla is continually connected to her surrounding environment. Influenced by an artistic family, she has always used art as her form of communication. Today Kayla lives in a small cabin off the grid with her husband and two daughters, surrounded by the Wrangell St Elias National Park and Preserve. Her paintings tell a story of grandeur and a deep appreciation for the natural environment while the birch jewelry brings pieces of that natural environment to be appreciated as wearable art.
